Accredited Songwriting Class – On Campus or Online!!! (Los Altos Hills or Anywhere!)

A Songwriting Workshop (MTEC 88A) is taking place this Fall Online or On Campus at Foothill College (www.foothill.edu) in Los Altos Hills on Monday afternoons at 3:00 pm on the Foothill College Campus!

You can choose to take it entirely online or entirely on campus!

Space is limited! Register early! Don’t be left out!

The class will start Monday, September 24th but you need to register now! The accredited class is for 4 credits at only $31 per credit for California Residents for the entire course (plus $50 for fees if you’re not currently a Foothill student).

You’ll have at least 10 days to check the class out and still get a full refund.

The focus of the class is on the craft and the art form of Songwriting and is appropriate for beginners to advanced. We establish a supportive environment that helps you realize your full songwriting potential. You don’t need to know any music theory or be able to read music to take this course.

Subjects include lyric writing, concept development, melody writing, unlocking creativity exercises, poetic devices, writing for specific genres, etc.

Instructor’s Background –

Jim Bruno is a San Francisco Bay Area based published songwriter.

He teaches at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, CA and at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, CA.

Songs he’s written have been recorded and released by Shawn Colvin, Mary Lou Lord, Cliff Eberhardt and Laurie MacAlister. Songs he’s co-written have been recorded and released by Chuck Prophet and Thad Cockrell

As a performing songwriter he has performed with or opened shows for the following artists: Shawn Colvin, John Gorka, Charlie Musselwhite, Joe Ely, Greg Brown, Mary Lou Lord, Steve Forbert, Bill Morrissey, Big Twist, and Cliff Eberhardt. He’s performed at the Greenwich Village Folk Festival, the Udine Folk Festival in Udine, Italy and has toured five times in Europe. He also played bass, guitar and sang in the Shawn Colvin Band for a number of years and often performed with Shawn as a duet. He recently released his own album of all original songs called ‘Alright Alright’.

He’s negotiated and signed numerous song publishing agreements. Among others these publishers include Bug Music and the Welk Music Group in Los Angeles, and Largo Music in New York. In addition to his having his own publishing company, Jimmy Bruno Music, as a songwriter he currently has a music publishing agreement with Universal Music Group. He is an affiliated Publisher and Songwriter with BMI and the Harry Fox Agency.
